Lorraina was a sophomore at Columbia University, majoring in meteorology. Doing a project on the rooftop of the Science building during a storm one day Lorraina was astonished to learn that she had some power over the storm, especially its wind and lightning, and was horrified when she accidentally severely damaged the Social Science building nearby. Now on the run from unknown enemies, and still nervous about her powers, she nicknamed herself Tempest and is using her powers to protect herself and stay one step ahead of those who are after her because of her powers.
